Hi,
I recently bought a light blue bolero it is casual but the only
problem is I don’t know what to wear underneath it. What
would you recommend?
Thank you
Cherie Evans
What a great buy! Bolero’s are excellent because they
are so versatile. It would look really lovely worn with a simple
white vest and jeans, or in the evening with your party dress.
Just be careful with colour coordination, Cream is good with light
blue as is silver satin, keep away from mixing light blue with
pink, red and orange tones it will clash far too much.
Hi there,
I'm a petit and slender young lady who is finding it increasing
difficult to find some really nice clothes in general. Office
wear all comes up too big in the arms and even Next Petit range
just seems to hang in all the wrong places. Being slender I am
looking for fitted clothes that give me the illusion of a bit
of shape and without the added alteration expense.
Please Help.

What a nightmare. The situation with petite clothing is improving;
albeit at a slow pace. DKNY is one of the best kept secrets for
ladies like your self, it is great for understated sophistication
and is definitely be worth a look for your office wear as their
suits are slim-shouldered and non swamping. They also have great
dresses, which may be good for a special occasion – look
for size ‘P’.
For a your daytime wardrobe, you should go and have a browse
around Gap Kids and H&M Kids, they really do have a fab selection
which isn’t too young and very on trend, plus its cheaper!
Gap main range also has jeans starting from UK size 4.
Another port of call are French and Italian labels such as Benetton,
Sisley and Morgan, a lot of their clothes are cut for the slimmer
frame of European girls and also have lycra in them which helps
a lot with the fit. Bennetton have some great small fitting shirts.
Principles and Miss Selfridge have both introduced ranges for
petite ladies 5ft 3 and under, sizes start from size 6, its just
a shame that choice is limited.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on, and don’t
lose heart, things are slowly improving and we are constantly
finding out about new places, so keep checking the directory.
