Let me tell you why this combination works.

Some things are immediately easy to see aren’t they? I’m often being asked whether fitted jeans can ever really work for women with curvy thighs.

Well here’s proof that they do, and a reminder that it’s all in the combination of clothes that you choose to flatter your shape.

The Patterned top-half.

Patterned fabric like this is immediately attention seeking. What I mean by that is that it really does grab your attention in a kind of ‘ stand back madam, I know what I’m doing,’ kind of way.

In fact I’ve only got eyes for the top-half of the body while hips bottom, thighs are practically invisible. Pear-shapes this is your ticket to effortless co-ordination.

So lets just be clear: What this plucky little combo does, is illustrate one of the many points I make in my e-books about using clothes to balance your body symmetry. Here we can minimise a pear-shaped bottom half because when you clad your lower half in dark solid colour you are using the oldest trick in the book to reduce the appearance of its size.

See also how even with fitted jeans (which can seem harder and less forgiving to wear) we are still drawn to the top of the body every time.

But there is more! This print is also a great choice for streamlining a curvy top half and it’s why I was immediately attracted to it when I was fabric sourcing. It’s the soft gently diagonal lines that can help to create elongation through the top part of your body.

There are two other features on the garment that are also worth a quick perusal.

The handkerchief hem that rides high at the thigh will always minimise full thighs and make legs look longer.

The defined v-neck and wrap trim is also a good devise for minimising a curvaceous bust.

This top is still selling if you are interested in sizes 14-32. Ends Aug 08.
