Hats off to Stephen Jones

Well last night I was at the impossibly glamourous British Fashion Awards.

But first I’m sorry about the predictable title. You know it’s going to be about millinery, don’t you? Thing is,  I was out too late (on account of being at said awards) and I have writer’s whatsit!

Anyway, sitting next to Giles Deacon, I had a marvellous evening – he is a funny and unaffected person given his status as British design Supa.

“It’s an interesting point,” quipped the compere for the evening Mariella Frostrup, “most awards pretend they are about something else but all anyone really cares about are the dresses. At least this event is honest because ALL ANY OF US CARE ABOUR HERE ARE THE DRESSES!”

Ha, so very true and normally I would be showing you what I was wearing except I was so rushed I forgot to take a picture.

Well I had to get home from work and shove my hair into heated rollers and be out of the house by 6pm and let’s face it there is never an amateur photographer around when you want one!

Not so the event itself – I’ve never seen so much paparazzi.

Perhaps I should have worked a hat into my look to make my entrance and then I could have whipped it on in a nano second leaving plenty of time to take a photograph in my usual spot by my linen cupboard!

It would have been a Stephen Jones hat of course! Here he is pictured last night with Erin O’Connor collecting his lifetime achievement award. Yes I finally got the punchline in!
