Height of Fashion.

Seems I haven’t used up my ‘shoe cliché’ quota for this month, so you’ll have to bear with me.

But when I get a good online steer, I like to head you that way too and as I was adding this entry to my shopping directory I made a mental note to tell you, when I had the chance.

Kathryn Kerrigan is a young Chicago based entrepreneur, whose shoes have great trend elements.

But what makes her brand of fashion different is her sizing remit, which, like our ethos is all about getting you to feel comfortable with your body. If you are tall we’ve got plenty to show and tell in our body-shape e-books.

Ms Kerrigan on the other hand has a great range of footwear aimed at UK sizes 6 – 11.5

We had a little online chat, like you do, and she told me,

“After years of playing women’s basketball and struggling to find a fashionable shoe to match my 6-foot frame, I decided to take the footwear industry to task.

In high school, I dragged my dad to 6 Chicago regional malls to find prom shoes and in the end I was stuck in a shapeless, taupe ballet flat that was beyond matronly. (Not my best moment.)

My one growth spurt in 7th grade made me taller than every teacher and unfortunately I wore the same shoes as my female teachers.”

It did of course end in tears but that only made Kathryn more determined to change things and after getting a loan from her Dad she started her own company.

Three years later she runs a successful online business and enjoys the feedback from women just like her, who thought they’d never find a decent style to fit their feet.

“They keep me inspired,” she says “It’s really about inspiring confidence in young, tall women from standing up straight to wearing a pair of heels. I want to change the thinking and behaviour in other adolescent, tall women and show them how to embrace their height and be confident.”

Kathryn has given howtolookgood readers a special discount of 35% when you type in this code. So that’s rather marvellous.

That’s so cool for her to offer 35% discount. I will be making my own purchase once I have decided on what to buy. I have featured some of Kathryn Kerrigan shoes on my blog. My blog is called mylovelybigfeetblog.com which features fashionable large size shoes from around the globe. It offers daily updates on fashionable shoes for men and women.

    Nice one Chi,

I’ll check it out, when I get the chance.

I forgot to ask last time, how long is the 35% discount for?

Till the end of the month!

Hi Caryn! Love your blog :-) I am a bit torn between my passion for shoes and my height (only 5´3)… As a petite, slightly pear shaped (size 10, and with the right bra padding, I can be mistaken for an hour glass), I should be directing attention to my upper body, isn’t it right?
Am I then sabotaging my efforts by wearing fancy shoes and “drawing the eye” downwards ? I would love to hear your opinion ! Thanks for all your advice!

    Hi Marianne,

    Thanks for the feedback.

I say knowing what creates the best body symmetry is really helpful and great for confidence. But choosing to disregard it is great too. These are not rules only tools. I am a pear shape and if you look at my latest ‘This week I am mostly wearing,’ post you will see I ignore my own advice too sometimes.

    Enjoy your shoes!
