I don’t care if I’m the only woman on the planet who isn’t into high heels (unless I’m posing on stage that is). I’m writing this post now in flat black patent brogues and boy fit jeans.

It’s a look I’ve been doing all winter and as we hit June things don’t look like they will change in the Franklin household.

I’m considering a new summer shoes of course I am, but how much wear will I get out of a strappy bejewelled pair? I have some great sandals already, but I daren’t step out in them due to rather heavy and spontaneous rainfall.

I don’t even care what this sounds like. I want warmth, and comfort. Yes I do so I’m in a bit a quandary. Ballet pumps are not my cup of tea, for one thing I can’t keep my foot in them, for another, I’m over them.

Hello moccasins, the new weekenders. Yes I know these are the type of flats that don’t have dress appeal but since I’m expecting to spend a large part of this summer in trousers, I’m all right about that. In fact a quick perusal of various shopping sites shows that everyone from M&S to Ugg have done their version – mostly in tan or cream.

I’m looking for something more akin to shoe candy so fortunately I’ve found something more altogether attention seeking- still a moccasin though, it’s just got a bit more about it. Jan Jansen, the legendary Dutch shoe designer has given hisa touch of colour and I’ve even found one style with a small heel.

The really nice thing is that there is no mass-produced look to these and with only seven outlets in the whole of Blighty able to supply them, you are guaranteed certain amount of exclusivity.

I will be wearing mine with straight leg jeans or wide linen trousers and maybe even socks at this rate!
