Because I always get questions on my site about jeans length, fit and cut. I compiled a jeans e-book, you get it free when you buy a body shape ebook, but let me lay out some basics for you here along with a great recommendation for another jeanius site.
The amount of finishes, colour rinses and embellishments your denimwear can offer, means that jeans have become a trend item, changing almost as quickly as the seasons themselves.
If you are looking for a long lasting utility item then the skinny leg high waist variety, which your 8-10 frame is perfect for, is not a best bet, but fashion credibility is yours none-the-less. Finishes have nu-tech leanings with silver, grey hues and if you are slender or willowy wear them tucked into heeled ankle boots. If you are petite and curvier choose darker denim and a straight leg.
If you are a standard height size 12 a high waist and a wide leg will achieve equal fashion kudos. A faded finish will give a more casual feel while a quality, fine denim in an even mid-tone indigo will create a perfect 70’s homage when worn with heels and a beret
At size 14 if you have height on your side, you can use the wide leg to camouflage a pear-shaped body and curvy tummy. Pick a style high enough at the waist to eradicate muffin top and choose a relatively soft fabric – anything too stiff will not flatter. If you struggle with a gaping waistband, the original AJK jeans which can fit snugly, round your thighs whilst giving you an adjustable 3″ at your waist by means of a lace-up feature is excellently priced.
At 16 plus dark inky denim will create a minimising effect around your thighs. Choose styles with visible vertical seams in contrasting stitch for extra leg elongation and avoid any whiskering, sanding or fading. Bootleg cuts are always the most flattering and to restrain a rounded tummy try the ‘Tummy Tuck jeans’ with invisible tummy controlling panels.
