It is the height of summer so a bit of colour, even pattern is always nice. But not when you are perched on the outside of a monochrome fashion grouping!
Yes here I am wearing… well absolutely no black at all and slightly regretting it I have to say.
They all look so marvellously co-ordinated that I’m convinced my colleagues, the lovely Ben (de Lisi) on the left, Louise – editor of Good Housekeeping, Ruth Managing Director of LVMH Perfumes and Cosmetics and Jane – Fashion Director at Good Housekeeping on my nearside, were all on the phone to each other the night before.
Well worth it then because a picture of elegance they are too; Ben is wearing flip flops, but you’d never know readers. I on the other hand cannot say that voluminous tunics and flat, albeit jewelled shoes, will be my choice for any more press shots.
Really rather funny since I was in to judge Good Housekeeping’s Best Dressed over 40 award, which will be revealed in their October issue, so I can’t say anything at this stage. Thanks for your suggestions though via my newsletter (GH had your choices covered).
In future I’ll keep a ‘photo opp,’ bag by the door that will include heels, black basics and white trim of sorts.
I could of course say that I did this on purpose just to illustrate to you the importance of picking clothes with definition for your all important (captured on camera) occassions. I’d be lying though.
Tomorrow is the autumn/winter launch for my second collection at Simply Be so I’ll have another crack at it and report back.
Over and out.

On the contrary Caryn – I think you look lovely.
The others all look as if they’re representing some big corporate bank or other! (Apart from Ben perhaps…) Why on earth aren’t these people wearing something colourful??
As much as I love black and white it can be so ’same old’ so don’t ditch your style which is so individual and out there!
Keep the flag flying for colour, we’ll be back to boring neutrals soon enough if our seasons are anything to go by!

Ah Lyn, thanks lovely. Even ‘fashion experts’ need supportive feedback.
