This week I am mostly wearing…

Old clothes – new styling

Suddenly the high waisted trouser seems so right. I ‘m not throwing out my low-rise waistbands but a change is as good as a rest and it’s a trend has had a fair innings to be sure!

What it has meant, is that I can go to the back of the wardrobe and bring out all my favourite trousers of yester year -the bootleg being another trend to make a welcome return.

And that’s precisely what I did at 6am the other morning (in a hurry to leave for the airport for a meeting darlings) after clocking that my designated look of dress and flats (laid out the night before) would not hold up to the torrential rain and rivers outside my front door.

So after rummaging about I found my reassuringly warm John Richmond strides (with high waist – don’t ask me how old they are) and a second hand belt, which I fell in love with when I first thought to try the high waisted look a few seasons ago (but then didn’t bother getting any jeans or skirts with high waists -too lazy to switch over or something).

The Betty Jackson top is a good few seasons old too, so this look albeit a makeshift one is vintage as well, ticking loads of boxes including the dress for your shape box, and getting me to Manchester on time (or I would have done if the plane wasn’t delayed by 4 hours)!

Anyway – what was it someone said about old dears and new tricks?

Think I’m going to enjoy this one!

    Hi Caryn,

You have me worried now, I am sure you said somewhere to get rid of anything that hadn’t been worn for some time! How come you are keeping things at the back of your wardrobe?

    Hi Caryn,
Here from Remarkablogger, and I have you RSS’d! Good stuff. I used to be in the business, but that was long ago, and now I need all your help I can get!

Hi Caryn – I’m glad boot cuts are coming back in – the shape is really flattering for most folk.

I found you through Remarkablogger by the way.

    Hi Joan,

These come under personal vintage. These are clothes that fit me wonderfully are good quality, designer labels and are classics. Plus I just knew that they were too good to get rid of. I do advocate getting rid of clothes that do not hold any of the above qualities and are just hanging around taking up valuable wardrobe space though.
