Well I’m please to give you a sneak preview of the spring summer trends, happening at London Fashion Week as I write. And let me tell you lace is still going so anything you buy this season will have currency right through the year.

These are pics I took yesterday. Jasper Conran complete with new boyish blonde curls, paid homage to the Hollywood stars of the big movie studio era. But I picked up this pic of the lace dresses from my very comfy seat at The Royal Academy of Art.

Obviously the dress is made for dramatic appeal, when your favourite store reworks it for you, it will be much more practical to wear. I wouldn’t want you to think I was recommending this actual style!

Earlier, as I was chatting very loudly to Jimmy Choo backstage (his friend has done the shoes at John Rocha) I had to be moved out of the way of the interview with John. I got some real tut tuts and we thought you at least would know better looks!

I had come to tell John I loved his show.

This jewelled panel in particular that accessorised John’s solid black cocktail dresses caught my eye and I was very pleased because it was confirmation that I was channelling the right thing for next summer. (I have been working on jewelled waistcoat ideas for Simply Be.

(I have to work even further ahead than the shows so I don’t have the luxury of waiting to see what the designers are doing – shame)!

I though I’d also introduce you to a woman who I think has real potential. She did what’s called a static stand and showed the clothes on mannequins.

The advantages here are that you can really get up close the clothes and look at the work.

Reem also has a wonderful holistic approach to her work and is investigating a co-operative approach for her garment workers. I just love the work that has gone into these designs. She started a few seasons ago working with ‘found clothing,’ but now she makes all the clothing first and then cuts it up and re-positions it.

I told her mother who was at the show that I though Reem was going to be very successful. Having told the same thing to both Alexander McQueen’s mother and Gareth Pugh’s mother when backstage in the past, about the talents of their (then unknown) off spring, I think I can say I know what I’m talking about! Over and out for now.

P.S.  Just noticed it’s all black! Don’t worry there were lots of clours too.
