My best dress!

Yesterday I was dictating my style tips for the season to a journalist. Yes I’ve been putting together the new autumn looks for our site (up 1st day of September and I refuse to do it any earlier because in the UK we’re still waiting for summer), when she asked about my party tips.

Apart from “make sure you keep your drink close so no one can drop anything in it,” I have just the one currently.

My best selling dress!

Now what body shape wouldn’t benefit from the party dress that ticks all the boxes? Trend wise we’re big into bows and waist detail but let’s discuss all the features that will flatter your body.

Low v-neckline, always great for elongating the neck and creating a flattering jaw line especially if you are fuller. If you are not happy with your neck and need some party camouflage go for a statement choker to cover up or a large pendant, which will create focus away from the immediate throat area.

A classic fitted upper body gives good definition especially when pulled in at the waist. This acts as your own waist cincher and will create a more feminine silhouette.

Big bow, yes big bow not those small barely noticeable things that are more economic for the mass-market retailer. The largeness of your belt and bow will make you waist look daintier.

Flared skirts are always a winner especially when they are layered and have movement. Choose your party dress for the ‘swish manoeuvre,’ which you can test in the changing room or in this case in the comfort of your own home because Simply Be is a mail order company. Flared skirts give your legs a more streamlined appeal.

If you have curvy legs, add small platforms because these will make your legs look shapelier.

Now have fun.

Caryn’s party dress comes in UK sizes 14-32
