Having just spent most of the last few days working my way through chocolate with the efficiency of an athlete on the National Eating Squad, I’m looking at anything that will short cut me to Planet Style.

I was quoted recently in Cosmo online as saying that my fave fashion pick me up was leg foundation and heels.

Well sticking with the leg tonic, I’m also investigating the healing powers of fishnets.

Yes really, but that’s partly because I can across this plucky little survey from premium hosiery design brand Jonathan Aston.

“Women believe that fishnets can ‘change your leg shape’ making legs appear more toned and slimmer, they can ‘change a women’s mood’; while 71 per cent of 35-plus women said they make them feel younger.” Personally I’m all for understanding how clothes can directly influence the way your body looks for the better and of course that effects how you feel at the end of the day.

And I love to see confidence and flair in the work place this survey also pointed out that despite being career minded, a third of the 1,000 women surveyed confessed that fishnets and smart black shoes was a winning combination and when worn with the right outfit are very respectable!

And let’s hear it for the foxy chicks in the room. According to those questioned, wearing fishnets over 40 years of age is not a sign of a women’s mid-life crisis, but a statement of independence and confidence. Yay.

Of course I have plenty to say about looking great over 40, fishnets are an accessory to aid you in your quest for ageless style.

For now though I’m just going to lay off the chocolate OK yes and the red wine. I’m sure it’s aged me about 10 years and I have to admit I don’t think there is anything my favourite fishnets will do about the little matter of a crop of spots that have just arrived!
