I’m squashing a few blogs into one because I’m lagging behind on all counts.
But as I’ve just got back from the Hay Book Festival where not only did I talk about the book that is i-D Soul, but rather embarrassingly I managed to ‘well up’ on stage.
Not for the first time or the last readers. I am a hopeless fool when it comes to talking from the heart and the book is really very special.
Still at least my harem pants held their own. And let me tell you, you don’t get many of them to the pound in Hay because the Welsh weather and the rural setting for the fair, dictates a rather more hardy approach to dressing up.
Anyway as I haven’t’ managed a ‘this week I am mostly wearing…’ for weeks, let me recommend House of Fraser and the label Liquorish for the Harem pant you see me sporting here. Remarkably comfy and loose around thighs and bottom – they are so you! Think ‘ageless style’ when you test drive these. Looking good in hot styles is not reserved for the young and photogenic.
And know that they are back for autumn and winter too so it would be rude not to try.
And what to wear with them? Well I’m loving my sandal – a touch studded gladiator but not so Balmain-in-your-face that you are over them before you’ve even had the chance to visit the menders for a rubber sole.
On that note though the above extra and party feet are my recommendation for any leather soles, if you are pursuing extreme comfort and let’s face it GRIP. They are so slippy otherwise.
Just had to fit in this vintage jacket – very Henry Holland Doncha think? I wore this recently when I chaired a ‘Made in England debate at the London College of Fashion.
So convinced was I that during question time at someone would ask the panellists where their clothes were made that I felt duty bound to make sure I was sporting the very label in my jacket. This is a Bernstock and Speirs original and again you don’t get many of them to the pound either!

Hi Ange yes they are. I got them from the boutique in Great Titchfield Street London called Sniff, but I know there are other Sniff stores.

Caryn, I did an event with Rosie Boycott on 29th and she too wore purple or was it pink Harem pants about which I complimented her. “thosse are very hip” I said.
Love your blog is all.

Hi,
I love the sandals. I also love the harem pants, but as I can recall wearing them the first time around I am reluctent to wear them this time. On my Brent Cross travels, for customers, I have found some great harems- particularly in Top Shop and Whistles. Take a look at my harem blog. By the way I am still having occasional problems posting on your blog.
