But can you eat it?

snake-serum

I don’t often write about beauty products but I love a contrast and this morning I took delivery of some organic skin care to try out, then blow me down,  I read that I should have been putting something far more creepy on my skin…like snake serum?

Rodial’s Glamoxy Snake Serum is the product and Syn-Ake, the active ingredient which claims to freeze your muscles just like the venom of a South-East Asian Temple Viper.

Of course there are all kind of claims about its efficacy, and all the celebs using it but puuuurlease they would have been given a free bottle to try just like me and my cammomile and rose spritze.

In these situations I like to ask my favourite question. And I think I know the answer.

Still that’s beauty marketing for you… you think the smooth skin of Victoria, Nicole, Cheryl and team is down to honest to goodness snake gunk when in fact it is really the marvels of digital manipulation.

Lib Dem MP Jo Swinson has got a bone to pick with this very issue and has tabled a think tank to address new policy around the lack of transparency. Now that has my full attention!

I’ll keep you posted!

‘Snake oil’ yet again (see Wikipedia if you don’t know what I mean)! I trialled a product with Syn-ake for the Beauty Bible - did a split face test and surprise, surprise no improvement over my usual much cheaper skincare. However, that was just me (n=1).
But the Syn-ake ingredient is made by Pentapharm and has been reviewed by the Beauty Brains - http://thebeautybrains.com/2008/12/02/will-syn-ake-venom-smooth-your-wrinkles/ - if you haven’t come across their site before it is well worth a look.
