I am so loving this picture for a huge variety of reasons and wanted to share.
Isn’t she a tonic?
I’m feeling of course that All Walks Beyond the Catwalk my own campaign has sparked a certain attitude…but here’s to V Magazine for picking up the mantle.
The Independent, The Times and others picked up on this, and I hope this type of picture becomes a more frequent thing.
Speaking to body image experts recently and hearing the sad statistics around the way young women feel about their bodies I can only hope other magazines will get on board. It’s being talked about as a trend but we need image makers to make this a format that is repeated time and time again. I hope that V magazine don’t make this into a one off headline grabbing trick!
What say you?

I have mixed feelings. I think the model is unreservedly gorgeous and the photograph is beautiful but the US based magazine who comissioned this and other pictures for its January issue seem to concentrate on unclothed models to the point of fetishisation. I’d point you in the direction of the Article “Young, Fat and Fabulous” by Kira Cochrane in the Guardian of Sat 30th January for a more vibrant take on this issue.

Thanks Angela,
Fashion does tend to create extreme imagery and in it’s presentation there is a case to say that much of it is fetish in itself. However whether we like it or not, fashion imagery is highly influential. Seeing this flesh is healing however, we have seen too many stripped bare fashion pics emaciated women. Will check out Kira’s piece didn’t get round to reading it on Saturday. I’m just preparing the next season of All Walks Beyond the Catwalk do come to the site to see what we’ve been doing. http://www.allwalks.org
