It is the height of wedding season and we receive lots of questions from Brides, Mothers-of-the-bride and Guests on wedding wear. Here is one from Sam who wants to know how to style up her gold dress…

Hello my name is Sam, I have a wedding to go to at the end of this month I have chosen this dress in Gold on the body and the flower embroidery with a champagne coloured tulle. My question is – would purple shoes, hat, handbag, jewlery and broach look good with the dress ? I can’t make up my mind so thought I’d ask the experts.

Hello Sam

Purple accessory accents will work well with your dress and  a strong colour accent will really make your outfit pop. I’d stick to purple shoes, hat and bag though.

The dress is making a beautiful statement on its own so I would keep jewellery very simple so as not to detract from or compete with the detailing on your dress. A simple pair of gold earring studs or a simple necklace will do the trick nicely. Here are a couple of options from Miso and Forever 21 which pick up on the flower appliqué detailing in your dress.

Enjoy the wedding!
