I’ve just bought a hot pink shift dress – will it work for winter and what shoes can I wear with it?

As the title suggests, Adele is looking for some shoe styling advice for her new pink shift dress….

Hi Caryn

I bought a hot pink, long sleeve shift dress on sale. Is it appropriate for fall, and what shoes do you suggest?

Thanks,

Adele

Hello Adele

Luscious vibrant colours such as hot pink always bring a cheery warmth to winter’s darker damper proceedings don’t you think? Colour has no calendar restrictions.

A printed shoe is a great way to ramp up a simple shift look – why not tap into this season’s floral trend with a lavishly-in-bloom pair such as these options from Alice & Olivia and Emma Cook. If you’re going for print keep the shoe shape sleek and simple.

Black and Navy work as good striking opposing colours to create a strong look. Autumnal oranges and browns will also look great. We love this orange pair with snakeskin detail from Office ( if you are worried about foreshortening then opt for a pair without an ankle strap and this brown pair from Moschino Cheap n chic with a pink heel.

For daytime or if you don’t do heels then try a shoe slipper – one with studding detail with also serve you well by evening (before you go to bed)! Here are some options from Kurt Geiger and Debenhams.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
