Looking and Feeling Good

Every now and then…

A value retailer comes up with a piece of clothing or line that warrants a mention.

Fiona Lambert the force behind George’s sponsorship of Graduate Fashion Week also oversees the ranges themselves and ‘Moda: Created With You,’ is their latest label developed by George’s in-house designers, who take customer feedback into consideration, with the aim of creating high quality pieces that flatter and enhance figures.

The results this season are ¾ length sleeves, longer-line skirts, flattering necklines and waist-cinching silhouettes. Taking classic styles and injecting them with fashion-forward details.

Of course I was curious…

As to how a dress like this produced for a mere slither of outlay totaling £20 could possibly be ethical.

It could have retailed at a higher price I think…Would shoppers really turn their nose up at the same garment for £25 with £5 to the community coffers for the workers in question.

I’m just a hopeless idealist so you tell me? Perception is a problem all value stores have and with over 700 factories to oversee, Adsa have their work cut out to monitor worker welfare. They did tell me that recent initiative installed by them have seen garment workers wages rise by 14.2% while there was a massive reduction in time wasted (through power cuts etc) that meant each worker was labouring 7-10s per week less.

So if you are a value shopper, the Moda range could make you feel great…now you know this!
