There are…
few products that do what they say on the tin!
The Philip Kingsley 3M drops (£47 for a supply that lasts a month or more) is one of those magical solutions that promises a turn around if you are affected by hair loss as I ‘am,’ err make that ‘was.’
Of course I told myself it was all stress related after birthing a particularly demanding project and maintaining it for 3 years…and some of it was y’ know… but some of it was middle-aged normal hormone atrophy, setting me up for a gut wrenching, confidence bashing, envy of glossy locks that appeared from nowhere and surfaced whenever I was directly behind someone on the bus with the aforementioned lustrous mane.
Darn it I even started an OCD tick, obsessively prodding at my hair to perk it up and push it forwards.
Good News!
I now have two separate layers of hair growing through..the stress regrowth and the hair loss regrowth. Yay!
Yes I’m into natural and non-invasive treatment where possible, but apart from iron supplements, more red meat and reducing stress, I’m not seeing a ‘natural alternative,’ here. It’s the anti-androgens that are the magic ingredient. which help to stamp out too many male hormones that surface once the female hormones lessen, wrecking havoc with hairlines.
No I am not writing about this under pressure to justify any ‘beauty gifts,’ from an efficient PR, although of course I won’t send any back that find their way to my door…so don;t be shy! My fears that I’d be reduced to ‘comb over,’ within the year however have evaporated. So that’s plain nice!
The consultation was around £200 but I’d rather lay out for that, than a new pair of Evisu boy fit jeans this season…we all make our choices! Next week I return for my 6 month check up and I’m expecting my consultant Glen Lyons to be impressed with my unruly and newly thatched mane in a way that no other hair specialist could!
Philip Kinglsey is in London and New York
