I am re-evaluating m wardrobe in preparation for the warmer weather that is hopefully coming soon!
I read that the Sixties is a big trend. I like the feel of that style but not sure if I can make it work for me. I am a size 14 UK and I have a curvy bottom/thighs and bust. I guess I am an hourglass shape as I do have a smallish waist. I certainly couldn’t carry off or want to carry off a mini skirt! Also I’m not sure that straight line shapes look that great on me either. Any suggestions you can give would be much appreciated!
You’ve certainly be earning your fashion stripes or perhaps we should say checks – the Sixties remain a powerful influence on designers this season with geometric angular cuts, check designs and column dresses. Monochromatic reinterpretations give the looks a distinctive 60s feel.
As you know here at howtolookgood.com we prefer to give you the ‘tools’ to take inspiration from the trends yet build looks that work for your bodyshape and style.
Take hints from this trend with a clean colour palette and streamlined shape for a winning 60s inspired look. And it doesn’t mean that the shape has to be sharp-edged – there is a softness this season so here is a great look from M&S that has this trend all squared up! The all-over check print and belt at the waist will compliment your hourglass figure. The black piping around the neck and down the top will also create an elongating line.
Team with a monochrome bag for a chic take or add a splash of colour to heighten the modernist mood via a bag or ring but keep jewellery to a minimum so as not to detract from this sharp look.
