catwalk trends that influence the highstreet, catwalk models

Welcome to our catwalk report for Spring/Summer 2005 with pictures taken by our favourite runway snapper Anthea Simms.

The waist is given more emphasis this season – belts, seaming and general detail are a key feature but hipster styles are just as popular. To give you a truly clear picture of each theme, we flag up key garments or items to make your shopping trips as simple as possible and we’ll give you our styling tips and tricks when you visit the high street section with our guide as to how the high street will offer this look to you.

How do trends work?

I love to read the trends as a comment on what we’re all feeling and it’s interesting to see Hippie looks repeating season after season, clearly we are using our clothes to express a desire for peace and love.

Take a look then at the four themes we think will be the most commercial and enjoy the fact that we have sifted through several key trends but simplified it all for you to make quick decisions about your look for the coming season.

Catwalk report compiled by Melissa Dick

With world issues now so high on everyone’s agenda, this spring major trends will take a global view. From Eastern Europe to Africa and from Asia to South America no continent has been left unexplored as designers the world over, embrace multi – cultural themes, fusing tribes and uniting cultures in perfect harmony on the catwalks. Well it may only be fashion…. but at least it’s a start!
