Here’s the ‘How to Look Good’ highstreet report for Spring/Summer 2005. We’ve featured images from all your favourite highstreet stores so that you can see how the catwalk fashions will be showcased in your neck of the woods.

The styles you see will be more mainstream versions of what’s on the catwalk. The highstreet is the best place for high fashion trends that you’ll wear to death over the next few months and then bin (a £20.00 top will serve you faithfully for a good few months but no more). And never before has there been such fast turnaround of styles, so no longer do you need to feel that in buying a mass-market design, you are compromising individuality.

With many stores operating ‘short runs’ of each design, these clothes will be in the shops for a lot less time and therefore bought by fewer people. With that in mind you need to look at our trends with an understanding of the fact that we are giving you ideas for your wardrobe. Look for similar styles when you are out shopping to create what you see here.

Use the hair and make-up looks in the pictures for inspiration too.

Don’t forget to use our directory to track down hard to find clothing services. Looking for a UK size 11 kitten heel, or a 36-inch inside leg? Web links are in our directory now!

Not sure how to dress to suit your body shape this season? then download one of our e-books.

We are often asked about ways to make your own clothes. There are two ways to learn dressmaking skills: join an evening class run from a fashion college in your area. Or invest in ‘Sew Basic’ written by the editor of Threads Magazine.
