Monochrome
The classic two-tone combination is back with a vengeance
and has never looked better. Always guaranteed a high street
winner, this time round Monochrome takes huge influence from
the 60’s and can be seen everywhere in playful prints,
graphic silhouettes and sharp stripes. Its essentially the most
adaptable of our trends and certainly one in which you should
be able to maximise pieces you already have in your wardrobe.
As with most of the trends this spring/summer, don’t over
accessorize and keep things simple, even a crisp white fitted
tee or shirt, black pants and a thin black patent belt, heels
or white pumps, will take you a long way in the style stakes.
Here are a few more ideas to inspire….

Primark again
have their finger on the pulse with this gorgeous silk shift
mini dress. A hard length to pull off on its own, try with your
ever faithful leggings, black opaques, skinny jeans, or cigarette
pants, just keep your bottom half more fitted to give a polished
edge, accessorize with heels, a pastel pink lemon or powder
blue silk scarf around the neck and black flat cap and a tan
bag for an added fashion feel.

Keeping with the 60’s
vibe, This Warehouse tunic and wide leg jean
is a perfect look to take you from day to night. A deep v neckline
and empire line cut is ultra flattering especially for top heavy
ladies, wide leg trousers and bottoms will also give you balance.
All over pattern helps to confuse the eye and hide any lumps
and bumps, a great tool if you are an apple shape. Plus the
mini dress is a huge story for the season, and not one we are
all ready to embrace, so turn what is designed as a mini dress
into a tunic/smock by wearing with trousers and leggings, far
more flattering and comfortable!

Make a statement with this
bold trench coat from Jaeger. Prints across
the high street will be screaming out and the best way to wear
them is to keep everything else simple and neutral, black leggings,
nude heels and a black oversized shopper bag are all that’s
needed to set off this outfit. Try with black trousers and black
silk shirt, a black shift dress, or jeans and a white vest,
but remember keep it simple and keep it polished.

Again you can easily choose
one key black and white piece, such as this Matalan
smock top, which is great for the summer months and such an
easy shape to wear. Accessorize with either traditional white
or black plain shorts or trousers, avoid mixing patterns, as
it is difficult to pull off on a large scale and can be slightly
over whelming. Alternatively, try bold red, vibrant blue or
acid green shoes and bags for bold colourful take on the classic
Monochrome that packs a bit more of a punch.
