Shiny
Basking in the glory of gold and silver, shimmer and
metallics are set to make spring summer shine! We have seen
a hint of metallics creeping into most trends and not just in
accessories, now “Shiny” and all things metallic
have emerged as a big story in their own right, from shimmering
satins, lux leather and woven linens, the star of the show is
textured fabrics, but as with many trends this spring summer,
less is most certainly more. Read on, this is your season to
shine, in more ways than one…

Groomed, gold and gorgeous,
New Look set a shining example with this coat,
big buttons, 3/4 sleeves and large collar all nod to the ever
prevalent 60’s ladylike vibe. Team with cigarette pants
and crisp white shirt tucked in, city shorts and a vest or a
simple 60’s style shift dress. One tip, avoid metallic
accessories, in fact keep accessories to a minimum if wearing
all over metallic, instead choose an oversized bag, in tan,
black white or beige leather or python and patent heels or wedges,
if you must wear jewellery invest in a huge bejewelled costume
ring, Fenwick’s have some great ones.

Continuing the 60’s ladylike
feel are Evans with this grey and silver lux
shift dress, fabric and texture are key to getting the look
right and this simple unfussy all over pattern is ultra flattering
on curves, it would also look great over black skinny jeans
and with a jacket for a more layered take on the look. Alternatively
team with a white shirt underneath and you have a chic fashion
forward look for the office, notice how the styling is kept
very simple, let your dress do the talking.

Marks and Spencer
have really upped the anti in the fashion stakes this season,
as is proved here. A gorgeous weekend chic outfit with just
a hint of the shine in a beautiful gold lux linen jacket, again
showing you really don’t have to take all trends literally,
less is more here and the fab 3/4 length deck trousers and smock
top are a perfect compliment to the laid back style of the jacket.
Its such a versatile jacket that it would look great over most
outfits providing you retain a similar neutral colour palette;
try a loose jersey dress, linen wide leg pants, shorts, vests,
shirts, it is definitely a buy for the season, and Marks and
Spencer go from size 6 upwards!

Simple yet effective, the beauty
of this Florence and Fred dress is that it
hints at a nod to the trend with out being too overpowering,
a slight dazzle in the fabric is enough. The empire line cut
continues to be one of the most faltering shapes for women,
the ruched detail over the bust is great if you have a small
chest and the open neckline gives the opportunity to show a
beautiful décolletage. Again styling needs be left to
a minimum, but due to the subtlety of the dress, you could get
away with a full metallic shiny oversized bag to really tie
the look together and either bally pumps or wedges and Jackie
O sized sunglasses will really finish it off and let you dazzle.
