Can’t afford a far flung summer holiday this season? Bring the world to your wardrobe instead as fashion has taken inspiration from across the globe

Tropical: Mango
Mango’s maxi-dress perfectly captures the spirit of the tropical prints seen at Mathew Williamsons New York catwalk show. The maxi has become a summer perennial because it is so versatile. Team this dress with wedges to add height or for special occasions, or with flat metallic sandals if you’re tall, or want a more relaxed day-time feel. Add layers of gold jewellery and bangles to perfectly capture that global traveler vibe.

African Print: Jesire
Christian Lacroix brought African prints right up to date for this summer in directional shapes, which is the 2009 way to wear them. The neat cut of this shift is juxtaposed with the African print providing the perfect combination for bringing this look in to the office, or for more formal occasions.

The gentle structure to this dress will also create smooth lines and does wonders for getting you to stand tall and proud. Minimal accessories are necessary with a print this bold, keep things simple with a coordinating coloured clutch and heels.

Tribal: Principles
Take your style cues from Principles if you want to channel summer’s tribal trend. Team classic safari inspired pieces, like these cropped trousers and a simple white shirt with layers of tribal jewellery to capture the catwalk look that had the front row captivated in Paris. Accessories are the easiest way to update a look without investing in new clothes and a great way to add colour. Tip: Use necklace lengths to create leaner lines and lengthen torsos.

Fringing: Topshop
The fringing trend that sashayed down the catwalk made a real statement. For everyday add frayed and fringe-edged pieces to your existing look to nod to the trend. A fringe edged t-shirt or blouse, like this western inspired piece from Topshop will allude to the look without adding too much bulk to your silhouette. To keep things simple while still trying this tricky trend, layer under a slim line jacket and team with leg lengthening jeans or trousers
