High street fashion: Uniform

By Laura Emerald

Attention! It’s time to get your wardrobe ship shape for spring. Polish up with a neat army jacket, a smart trench or chic Breton top. And when it’s time to relax, keep it simple with utility-chic. The high street has all.

Army jacket

Army
Team this New Look army jacket with everything from jeans and a T-shirt to a pretty summer dress and inject some polish in to your wardrobe. The on-trend epaulettes are fashions current embellishment of choice, while the neat cropped length cinches the waist at its narrowest point. Perfect.

nautical tunic

Nautical
This nautical tunic from Simply Be has all the hallmarks of a classic with a modern twist. Its classic Breton stripes flatter while the cheeky nod to Chanel (she first introduced the fisherman’s uniform to women’s wardrobes) will flash your fashion credentials. Wear it with leggings, jeans or wide-leg white trousers and summer key shoes – the wedge.

utility tunic

Utility
This utility tunic from La Redoute has all the hallmarks of the perfect sporty-chic piece. Functional and comfortable yet with a neat edge that will ensure you look pulled together with very little effort. Minimal accessories are needed with a top like this – team it with jeans, wide leg trousers or indigo jeans and leather flats (not trainers) to recreate the catwalk look.

trench coat

Trench
This spring the Mac is back. This trench has all the hallmarks of a classic and will work hard in your wardrobe this season. The beauty of the trench coat is it looks just as good belted over jeans and casual looks as it does dressed up. Simply add a statement necklace over the collar, or an interesting brooch to ramp up the glam factor for night.
