A history lesson in everyday glamour

Designers this season have taken a trip down Seventies lane. And the result of this sartorial time travel is bright eyes, bouncy hair, big hair and sexy trousers, all adding up to an elegantly louche look. It’s all about go with the flow; everyday glamour.

Mix up textures to keep the look fresh. Shrug on this season’s instant-glamour-hit fur jacket over a fine barely-there vest and languid tailored trousers. (Stock) pile on muted tones to create a long lean line down your body. A fur jacket will add volume and balance out a curvier bottom half, so go for a skinny-belted gilet instead for a more streamlined and waist-enhancing take.

Just don’t forget to book that blow dry...

Pick up a Pouch

Create your own language of bag chic and add an unexpected and savvy twist to any look. Cute drawstring bags are the chic new shape and this one will go with everything. Universally flattering, sling it on for instant impact.

Take a walk on the wild side

It’s a fashion jungle out there so prepare to unleash those claws this season. Feline spots are surely fashion’s most enduring trend and for now it’s all about prowling about town in big cat print accessories. These boots roar fashion but their no-fuss and classic Chelsea boot shape means that they are also very chic and a go with everything must-have. Beware - the ankle cut can create foreshortening but the high heel and streamlined shape will help to counteract this.

However, attention will be firmly at your feet.

These boots will make a perfect accent to turned-up jeans, tailored trousers and flirty skirts. Leopard and blood-red red also make hot partners. Get sharpening ladies…

Leather that is flattering and sophisticated – fear not!

It might send the fashion fear through you but hang on there a minute - leather is now altogether subtle, softer and more sophisticated. The way to play it is pretty tough. That is against delicate pieces. The stark A-line shape is an ideal canvas for ultra feminine blouses, luxe tees and simple knits. Keep it relatively sleek and free of adornment for an instantly modern look and style with lace pieces for a sexy evening ensemble.

And who said that leather can’t be flattering? The flare of the hem makes legs appear slimmer and deftly covers thighs and hips and chunky boots will give a weighty balance to the A-line.

As a gateway drug to a new look at leather, it’s quite seductive stuff.

Show off womanly curves in this knit-con dress

This season knits have gone all fabulous. Cosy and chic, make this woollen dress your winter off-duty essential. Its snuggle-me wool and slinky fit give a whole new spin on ‘figure hugging,’ delicately showing off curves.

Knitwear is having a ladylike moment so team with a skinny belt (to show off your waist and create curves) and kitten heels or with a silk shirt underneath and statement earrings for the perfect winter look.

Make a statement

Park your long pendants for the season and bring out the big guns with a statement necklace instead. This headline grabbing piece is just the ticket for lifting your winter wardrobe. Team with everything from a plain shift dress to a cashmere tee.

And at this bargain price these (faux) diamonds really are a girl’s best friend.

Cool country chic

If designers had anything to do with it, this winter, we’ll spend most of our time in the great outdoors, taking in the fresh country air. The country jacket has been promoted from the cloak room to bona fide desirable-fashion-item-status and this cool little streamlined number is a perfect fit.

The ultimate in functional dressing, throw it over everything from denim to full skirts for an edgy urban meets classic country look. Knot the belt for a fashion spin and to accentuate your waist.

The season’s hottest boot

Strap on a boot. Multi-buckles and straps equals the new adornment for the ankle boot. These incredible boots are the perfect pep for this season’s fashionable basics and just as good with skirts and trousers. For evening forget strappy sandals and toughen up an evening tux or LBD with these killer booties.

There’s always a place for a fashion-fabulous heel. Don’t believe me? So shoe me…

A waist-enhancing shift, but not as you know it

Fancy a different yet enticing story this season? Then have a close encounter of the style kind and explore the season’s sci-fi futurist themes. This architectural, stiff yet rounded, molded shift is darkly sophisticated and alluring without exception. The strong print is combined with modern and minimalist lines (which accentuate the waist and draw an elongating line down the body) resulting in a gorgeous simplicity.

Keep hair and make-up sleek and eschew any added adornment for a look that is beautiful in every dimension…
