Well, welcome to ‘What’s New for

we answer your questions on the latest fashion trends
with our usual diligence. But as you know by now it’s
not all about buying into the latest fashion trends
unless they suit your shape! We of course love to suggest
the best places to go for your party dress, sexy suits
and much more.
Once you have the latest fashion advice (find
out how to dress to suit your body shape) you will
then be ready to take on the winter months with style!
Take a look at our Catwalk
channel featuring the latest fashion trends in the UK,
as well as those from New York, Paris and Milan.
Then go to the High
Street channel to see how your local stores have
interpreted the look to suit your style and budget.
Here are my answers to your questions with

Question: “Hi Caryn
Love your website and couldn’t resist writing
in to ask you about a dilemma I have got.
I wear a lot of black and my friends are telling me
to try wearing colour, they say that black is boring.
I am not boring, but I can’t face wearing pink
or orange, as it’s just not me. I am a white 37
years old with dark hair, 5ft 3 and wear size 14 -16.
"
Jez
Hi Jez
Glad you like it! A lot of women wear black too often,
I know I’m guilty, it’s easy to wear as
it is so chic and can be thrown on in the mornings and
trusted not to get dirty all day long! However after
a while it can look predictable and stern and your friends
are right you should experiment with colour, just to
ring the changes.
In my e-books I talk about how to find a colour to
suit your skin tone in more depth, but as a beginner
why not put colour on the bottom half of your body away
from your face or take a friend shopping with you and
try on a selection of different shades of colours in
quick succession so that she can advise. Also you can
opt for colour on your top half and then soften a piece
of black knitwear or a dark waistcoat, or alternatively
check out prints that are on a darker background like
the one I have chosen to show you here. I can guarantee
that adding colour into your wardrobe will definitely
help to keep away those winter blues.

Question: “Hi Caryn
I am 5ft 11 and feel frustrated as I can’t seem
to find a suit that fits me. I have long legs that measure
35” on the inside leg. I have tried the high street
“Tall” sections but they don’t sell
many suits that I like. I work for a bank and it is
important that I look smart for my customers, please
help me."
Carol
Hi Carol
It is great that the high street in the last few years
offer longer length in certain designs, but you are
right some of the retailers don’t sell a great
selection. Marks and Spencer do offer longer lengths
on a lot of their trousers and now they are in our shopping
Mall. But have a look at the picture I have chosen here
from specialist retailer Long Tall Sally who are (if
their press photos are anything to go by) finally getting
their act together and offering fashion and glamour
as well as longer lengths.

Question: "Hi Caryn
I am getting married next winter and I am desperately
looking for my dress. I live in Birmingham and not really
sure where to start looking. I am a size 26 with wide
hips, size 34E bust and broad shoulders that I don’t
like showing. I really don’t know where to start
and what would suit me; I am also worried nothing is
going to fit me."
Charlotte
Hi Charlotte
Actually Charlotte, there are a lot of bridal retailers
on line (visit our virtual shopping mall under brides)
that give an excellent size range so you can easily
start to check out the different styles available in
your size. To help cover your hips think about an A-line
style which also gives you the effect of a slimmer waist.
For broad shoulders an alternative to a stole or shawl
is a pretty jacket that can be worn over the dress,
look out for lace or chiffon to soften the look. Please
also get your bust measured and invest in a suitable
bra that will not only support you but also give you
a lift, essential for the big day. I’ve included
this picture so you can see what I mean.
PS come and visit us at The National Wedding Show
at the NEC in February where we spend three days kitting
out as many brides as we can, and we’ll give you
our personal treatment.

Question. “Dear Caryn
I have a lot of Christmas parties coming up and I am
looking for something to wear, I love wearing pencil
skirts as I think they look good on me and my boyfriend
tells me I look sexy in them, but I wear them out a
lot already and want something different. I am a slim
size 12."
Natalie
Hi Natalie
Pencil skirts are very popular this season and can be
dressed up or down, however I understand you wanting
something new to wear for all the parties that are coming
up, we all feel more confident in something new. So
why not invest in a strapless dress that is quite fitted
and perhaps even has a built in corset to give more
shape. There are a lot of versions on sale in the high
street and you could opt for one of the seasons colours
such are red, purple or green. Retailers Next have a
great satin dress that has the corset built in and will
look very sexy on!

Question. "Hi Caryn
I am a busy mum of 3 and so I don’t have much
time to myself. I live in jeans as they are very comfortable,
but I am now getting fed up with wearing the same thing
all the time. Can you recommend any other trousers that
I can wear that will look good but also be able to sustain
my lifestyle? PS I also don’t have time to shop
so need to buy on line."
Jill
Hi Jill
Jeans are a stable item in everyone’s wardrobe
and very practical for mums but I can understand you
wanting a change. Boot cut trousers are very flattering
so why not simply look at other fabric options. Moleskin
is a relaxed version of velvet and less smart so great
for the day, like jeans they are also very comfortable
and come in a variety of colours so you will never get
bored. As you have no time to shop check out the high
street on line, or you could buy the trousers pictured
here straight away, from the excellent mail order and
on line company Boden.
