2008 spring fashion trends are in the shops and on our home page you’ll see I have featured my favourite 2008 spring fashion trends in both the newly updated catwalk and high street channels.

But here I answer this month’s questions from you with my recommendations, along with links to the site so you can buy it immediately.

Question: “Dear Caryn
I am 6ft 1, and a natural size 10, and find a lot of trouser suits for my height make me look taller and a bit frail. I tend to wear black suits that are standard cut. I do wear skirt suits, but I would love to find a trouser suit that works for me. I work in the city so the suit can’t be too fashionable. Plus and this is the big one, I just never seem to get the fit in the leg."

Hi Jo,
Try wide leg trousers, these are perfect for giving your body more shape. Avoid black; it will make you look severe and strict, instead go for a lighter colour such as grey. To make sure it doesn’t look boring, go for grey with a sheen, to add some texture – this look is practically straight off the catwalk but look how chic it can be for the office. For after work hours just add a colourful shirt and lose the jacket.

Now then, I’ve chosen Next for you, who do a longer length, but be sure to visit our shopping mall and select ‘Tall’ there you will find a huge range of retailers who offer speciality sites and longer length fittings. How’s that?

Question: “Hi Caryn
I am going to a church wedding in March, and already have a gorgeous red dress that I have bought in the sales, but I am not sure what to wear with it. Shall I wear a jacket? I think a coat will be too heavy to go with my dress and last spring the weather was very warm. Also what colour shall I go for, I was thinking black? "

Hi Tina
I think black is far too heavy for the day and will spoil your lovely red dress. Jackets work well in summer, but what I am suggesting will give you the best of both worlds. Yes a light-weight coat such as a Mac will not only give you a classic and glamorous edge for the day but more coverage in a month that could be still very chilly! Macs come in all sorts of textures and colours. This fabulous metallic Mac is on trend and also smart enough to wear to a wedding and compliment your dress.

Question: "Hi Caryn
I am off to Tenerife and want to wear an outfit that I can put on in the day sightseeing. I am fed up with the jeans and t-shirt look. I know the weather will be warmish.  I am 44 and young at heart. I am in fairly good shape, around size 12 although I do have love handles left over from Christmas! "

Capri trousers are great for the day and smarter than jeans, especially when worn with flats or pumps. Team with a tunic style dress, knitted ones look more sophisticated than printed ones. I have found this one that is fitted around the bust area and an a-line shape that will slim down your hips. Dress up with a big bag and shades or bold necklace and heels for evening.

Question. “Hi Caryn
I am feeling the winter blues and want to buy some sexy underwear to cheer me up. Can you suggest anything for my size 38D that’s looks fashionable too. I have a big tummy and no waist so do I have to go for high-waisted pants that I have read will pull me in?"

You could go for a high-waisted pair of knickers with a sexy bra but how about a basque? It too will hold you in completely. This one I have found for you has a central pattern with black side panels, which will slim you down and give the appearance of a waist because of the shape of the front panel. Definitely a winner to clear your winter blues

Question. "Hi Caryn
I love your site and thought I would give you a challenge! I am short in the body and usually wear long skirts on my hips to lengthen my torso. And I feel I have no waist. I like my legs but of course my skirts hide them. So, any suggestions?"

Hi Sam,
Wearing skirts on the hips will lengthen your body, but try wearing a short high waist skirt. The one I have shown you here, when worn with opaque tights draws the focus to your legs taking the emphasis off your torso. High-waisted skirts will be plentiful in stores now until summer and if you go for one that has volume like this one, you can make your waist look smaller too!
