Question: “Dear Caryn
I am off to a festival next month and want to take as little as possible as we are camping. I am going with my husband and we don’t have much room in our little tent. I am slightly panicking, as I won’t be able to use my iron! I am taking lots of shorts (I love showing off my legs) but not sure what to take in terms of a dress as all my dresses need an iron. Am I being silly?"

As you are at a festival the dress code is definitely more 'shabby chic' than 'glam chic'. Long maxi dresses are a big hit this summer but not necessary to everyone’s taste, so why not take a look at beach wear, many have dresses that are great for the beach or a festival. This is because they tend to be made from material that can cope with creasing. I have found a crinkle effect dress, so the more it is creased the better it looks and will show off your legs. Wear it with a big straw hat for added protection and then all you need do is relax and enjoy the music.

Question: “Hi Caryn
I am getting married for a first time in late summer in a registry office. I am not going to wear a wedding dress, because it’s really not that type of do although I would like to wear something white or cream. I am size 12 and aged 39 and quite classic in my dress sense. I don’t like frills or floaty dresses but also don’t want to wear trousers. What do you suggest? "

Hi Vicky
I think that the key options for you in finding the right outfit is to ensure you feel comfortable and feel feminine. Classic dresses tend to have straight lines and are more tailored so a pencil dress could be an option for you to consider, they are flattering and very feminine without be overtly fussy. Why not consider one with a twist e.g. a bold print? I have found a cream dress with such a print that is extremely elegant and the bow at the front adds a small detail adds a classical touch. This will photograph very well too, when you add accessories and flowers.

I am desperately trying to find a swimsuit that suits me. I have a fairly ample bust, 32DD and only 5ft 2. A lot of swimsuits make me look short and just draw attention to my top half. I am off on holiday next month so need your help. "

Opt for halter necks as they are great for fuller bust sizes, I often use them when I'm styling. Avoid also fussy prints and details around the bust area too as this will simply draw attention to your bust; look for high cut swimsuits to add perceived length. This is also great elongating the body and adding height.

Question. “Hi Caryn
I am petite in shape and want to buy something that can keep me warm whilst also flatter my figure. My arms are quite skinny and although I am perfectly healthy for my body shape I would like to look curvier - is that possible?"

Hi Kim
If your body is on the willowy side you can use a great styling trick to create curves by wearing garments that add volume. Such as a-line, bell sleeves, puff sleeves etc. The only fashion code is that if you are adding volume on the top half you must balance it with fitted on the bottom e.g. straight pair of trousers; otherwise you will end up looking much wider than you are and as a petite that will foreshorten you. Have a look at some lightweight knitwear, which is great for the cooler summer evening. Great with shorts or fitted denim skirt or jeans.

I am tall, 6ft to be exact, and want to know if I can wear cropped trousers as I am not sure if they look silly on me, I feel they look like I am wearing trousers that don’t fit me properly. What do you think?"

Hi Helen
You can wear cropped trousers. These will be designed to flatter your leg length - it’s the trousers that don’t actually fit because they aren’t long enough for your leg length that will look awful. I have found a pair that has a built in flap to allow for a crop and to be worn at normal length and of course they are from a specialist site that we have recently added to our shopping directory for tall.
