So, this month I’ve picked five of your questions from my overloaded inbox to illustrate how you can best flatter your body shape this summer…

Question: “Hi Caryn
I am looking for a light weight coat that I can wear during the early Summer months. I am a typical pear shape women size 14 top and 16 bottom, with a 34E and I find a lot of coats are either too tight around my bottom half or if I go up a size don’t flatter me. Any suggestions? Thanks"
Miranda

Hi Miranda
Look out for coats that have a slight a-line, they will flatter your bottom half and also look stylish and modern. Single breasted is also great to flatter fuller bust sizes. Coats also don’t have to have button all the way down and actually only need go to the middle to pull in the waist. Check out Boden who have a fabulous cream coat with contrasting chocolate hem that is casual enough to wear in the day and can be dressed up for the night.

Question: “Dear Caryn
I am off on holiday next month and want to find something that I can wear from the beach to the coffee bars without going back to the hotel. I have quite big thighs so find shorts or khaftans don’t suit me. I am also 5ft 4 so don’t want anything to swamp me either."
Sarah

Hi Sarah
Why not consider the maxi dress which is very fashionable this season. They can be easily teamed with flat sandals for the day and heels for the evening. The length will work well with your height, but if you are worried you can always team with a belt around your hips and slightly hitch up the length. I have found a gorgeous one that will keep you cool on holiday as it is made from linen .

Question: "Hi Caryn
I am looking for a really stunning outfit to wear to a party that I am going to, where the dress code is glam. I have recently shed a few pounds and gone down two sizes from a size 22 to a size 18. I feel fantastic on it and really want to show off my curves, especially my bust. I am a 36FF so no strapless dresses please. I also feel still conscious around the thighs so nothing too tight. I have looked on the high street and can’t see anything that is extra special. Any ideas?"
Carol

Hi Carol
I would suggest you look for a v-neckline dress which are great for showing off your bust, in particular look for build up shoulders as these are bra-friendly and will allow you to wear support. The best way to achieve glam is either a dress with a jeweled effect or to look for a rich fabric such as satin or layered chiffon. I have found a fabulous dress that is made from stretch satin with a lavish rhinestone centre piece. The full skirt is also very flattering.

Question. “Dear Caryn
I love to wear a pencil skirt but feel that my hips are too big. I am around a size 12 on the bottom with 39” hips. I don’t like wearing a-line skirts as I think that they make me look even bigger so I end up wearing trousers most of the time which I am sick of wearing. Is there anything that i can do?"
Sam aged 36

Hi Sam
Yes there is so don’t worry as I have just the solution for you. To help flatter your hip area check out the tulip skirt, very much in fashion so plentiful in the shops at the moment. Tulip means that it slightly goes out around the hip area and then tapers back in like a pencil skirt. A lot of tulip skirts also overlap at the front giving a fabulous show of leg! Wear with a fitted shirt, wrap top or even one shoulder top for full effect.

Question. "I really don’t like my arms and even though I exercise around that area i still flap around! I find even capped sleeves don’t work and feel tight. It is getting to the point that I live in cardigans even in the Summer. Help!"
Zoe

Hi Zoe
Don’t worry you are certainly not alone with this one. Even Posh is recently to have been reported that she is concerned about her arms! Why not consider an angel sleeve? These are great as they will cover the tops of your arms and also look pretty. I have found a lovely summer dress in this style to start you off.
