Curvaceous Cleavage

The average British consumer buy’s two bras each year and 90% of wearers are in the wrong size to start with. This month we thought we’d gently coax you into a whole new mind-set on lingerie, courtesy of Debenhams.

There are some great new styles to try, so bear in mind our ‘top fit tips’ when you’re shopping, to help you to home in on the right style for you. Trends for lingerie this season are jewelled straps meant for show and lace panels with vintage style finishes.

Georgia lace demi bra £15 sizes 32A – 38D and short £10.00 sizes 8 – 18 from Presence

• Low slung bosoms are aging so always adjust the shoulder strap to give you the correct shape. Do this by looking at your profile with a jumper over your bra and shortening the stap in stages.

Jewellery jet bra £20.00 sizes 32A – 38D and matching thong £10.00 sizes 8 – 18 from the Jasper Conran J collection.

• Is the under band correctly fitted around your ribcage? A band that rides up at the back means your breasts will point down at the front. Choose a smaller bra (keeping the cup sizes the same) and treat yourself to a better figure!

• Always buy a bra with the fastening on the loosest hook, that way when the fabric gives after washing, you can tighten it.

Exotic embroidery bra £18.00 sizes 32A – 38 D and short £10.00 sizes 8 – 18 from Caprice

• Choose a smooth foam formed t-shirt bra in a colour as near to your skin tone as possible - to wear with everything.

• A white bra may show under a white top, a flesh coloured bra will not. A lacy bra may create lumps and bumps so make sure you are getting attention for the right reasons.

Tutti Frutti bra £20 sizes 32A – 38E and short £12.00 sizes 8 – 18 from Reger by Janet Reger.

• A balconette style is a versatile style for both fuller bodies and those wishing to maximise curves.

• Fuller cup sizes can look for wider straps, more wing support and plastic boning or three-section cup features to give maximum support.

Satin ribbon trim bra £14.00 sizes up to 40F and thong £6.00 sizes 8 – 18 from the ‘Gorgeous’ collection especially for women with curves.

• Smaller cup sizes can employ gel filled styles to create extra fullness.

• Above all enjoy your perfectly healthy breasts and during breast cancer awareness month celebrate your body and your health.
