Question: “Hi Caryn
I hope you can help me as I am really fed up with ironing my shirts for work – it’s so boring! Do you have any suggestions?"
Anne, Bromley

Hi Anne
Don’t worry help is at hand. I have several tips for you…after you have washed your shirts hang them up on hangers and let them drip dry, or if your shirts are already dry hang them in your bathroom, turn on the shower and let the steam ease out the creases. Finally if you are feeling flush you can even try you local dry cleaners they may offer a ironing service for around a £1/shirt. I have also found this fabulous shirt from Boden that is made from fabric that is non-crease, which will mean that you never have to iron those shirts again!

Question: “Hello,
I am off on a winter holiday next month and want to buy a new swimsuit. I am 53, size 16 with wide hips and a stomach (I love my red wine at night) and size 34DD bust. I know its winter at the moment so not sure where to start for beach wear!"
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth
Most retailers offer a range of swimwear all year round although it’s not as big as in the Summer, nevertheless you’ll get a good selection. I have had a look at various websites and have found one of the best for your bodyshape to be at Marks and Spencers, they have a new range called Magic that offers swimwear with all over control. It will definitely flatter your body shape and has a buckle feature on the side to take eyes away from the stomach area and with the build in support to suit your body shape. It also has a plunge neckline that will also flatter your bust. Enjoy the sun!

Question: "My boyfriend is taking me away to New York in November for a romantic break. I’m so excited but also starting to panic as I don’t know what to take in my suitcase, we have been going out for a year and I think he might propose (he is very unsubtly hinting). Caryn what do you suggest I take and any idea on what to wear for that big night out?"
Helen

Hi Helen
Wow what a lovely boyfriend you have. Yes packing for a short or long break can be daunting, and a lot of women take clothes that they never end up wearing. With airline flight restriction in place the rules of packing are simple – less is more. You are lucky that the fashion around this season is about layering and items are there to be mixed and matched e.g. a jersey dresses can be worn over jeans in the day and then glamed up at night with boots and jewellery.

I would suggest you take some dresses that you can do this with, as well a pair of jeans, boots and a pair of high heels. As you are going to New York in November it will be cold and maybe snowing so you need to ensure you keep warm, luckily knitwear is on trend and you can find a huge selection of sweaters and knitted dresses that can be dressed up or down too. Now for the possible proposal, I would check out Next Directory, they have an amazing gold prom dress that has a bow detail (very now), and is definitely “sex in the city”. Team it with heels and a bag and a warm winter coat for the complete look that will surely engage your boyfriend!

Next Prom dress (cant apply this but it is in the gold and teal section), it is a gold dress with a bow on waist and a bag is featured in it.

Question. “Hi Caryn
There have been a lot of celebrities in magazines wearing backless tops and dresses, I love them but being 32DD I need to wear a bra, and think it’s tacky to show bra straps. Is there a backless top out there that I can wear with a bra or something inbetween?"
Isabel

Hi Isabel
The celebrities that you see in the magazines hold their breasts up with tape, although this is fine for the red carpet, it’s not practical for a night out especially if you need the shape and support from a good bra. Their is a great website called redcarpetundies.com that you could look at. However, I have found an excellent dress that is very stylish and in the league of a dress Eva Mendes has worn. The back has a deep v and a cut away at the lower back., and the good news…it also comes with built in cups.

Question. "Dear Caryn
I am looking for a new winter jacket, I want something that is a bit different, all the jackets on the high street I keep seeing either black or red coats, Red doesn’t suit me and I am bored of black, they also are either boxed or too fitted for me, any suggestions?"
Jill

Hi Jill
Jackets this season are belted or single buttoned. If you want something different you could try on a coat that has a vintage feel, resist leopard print and go for a plain colour such as cream. The colour will lift you and the vintage feel will make you feel streets ahead of anyone.
