Question: “Hi Caryn
I am size 24 with cup size 36F and need to know if I
can wear prints and what shape suits me best to flatter
my bust? A lot of my friends are wearing high waisted
belts but I find them uncomfortable and they make my
bust look bigger, especially as I am also short in the
body. Please help."
Sarah
Hi Sarah
Choose strong, graphic prints as they will detract from
your bust area. Square necklines or wrap style tops
are great for anyone who has a fuller cup size. This
square neck top from Evans is exactly what you should
purchase as the print is great for you, as well as the
black border which also helps to detract from your bust
area and moves the eyes down to the print below. 3⁄4
sleeves are also a good option and very in fashion this
season. |

Question: “Dear Caryn
I love boob tubes but get frustrated as I always seem
to end up pulling them up, especially when I am dancing
which I do a lot as I go to salsa lessons to keep fit.
I don’t want to wear vests as I don’t think
they are as sexy is there some miracle that is around?
I hear celebrities wear tape?!"
Jackie
Hi Jackie
Celebrities do wear tape but this is mainly to keep
their bust area covered when wearing plunging necklines.
I don’t think you need to resort to this; instead
you could opt for a top that is halter neck, which is
just as sexy as a strapless top but will ensure that
when you are being flung around you won’t need
to worry! |

Question: "Hi Caryn
I am looking for a coat to buy that makes a chic statement,
a little bit alternative, without being too fussy or
too high fashion. I am in my mid 40’s’s
and love fashion but don’t want to look like I
am trying too hard and certainly don’t want to
look like my teenage daughter. Have you seen anything?"
Diana
Hi Diana
Coats are wonderful as they really can dress up any
outfit. There are going to be a lot of black military
style coats but I am thinking that everyone else is
going to buy one so I would avoid them. Instead go for
something that is not black (straight away a good alternative)
such as navy or chocolate and definitely something that
is just below the knee to ensure what you wear underneath
doesn’t sit below the hem of the coat (not a good
look). Subtle prints that sit on the hem line could
be a great choice, such as this one by Boden. Team with
long boots and knitted hat and gloves to finish off
the chic look. |

Question. “Hi Caryn
I am a size 14 and really don’t like my waist
so I don’t like to wear anything that clings.
I really want a dress that I can wear day and night
which is fashionable."
Sally
Hi Sally
A lot of women find their waist line is the problem
area as this is where women can easily put on weight.
Fashion wise there are a few tricks you can try to help
aid you to a slimmer waist. The first is the belt; this
is huge for winter and a lot of dresses look great with
one. The trick is to go for a thick belt so that it
has a corset effect around your waistline. Another trick
is to wear controlled underwear such as a spanx available
from most department stores, or high controlled knickers,
these ensure that the excess is evenly distributed around
the body so you don’t get a bulge. The third is
to go for a tea style dress that has a dropped waist.
The 40’s is extremely fashionable this season,
the great thing about this dress is that you can wear
with a black polo neck in the day and opaque tights
and then on it own in the evening. |

Question. "Dear Caryn
I am trying to save to buy a flat and need to look at
ways to cut back on my spending. One of my biggest expenses
is clothes! What keys things do I need to buy to stay
in with the fashion trends for Winter and that I can
wear not just for my office job, I am a PA so have lots
of shirts. I already have a good pair of jeans, lots
of shoes and a winter coat. I am a curvy size 12-14."
Linda
Hi Linda
The key to success to look at your wardrobe and then
work out what you need to buy to combine your existing
wardrobe into outfits.
Apart from the things you have told me you have, I would
image you have some smock tops, dresses, maybe a pencil
skirt, boots and a coat you wore last year.
So I would suggest you stick to buying a few limited
pieces such as a waistcoat to go over the smock tops
and dresses to update them to the new hour glass shape,
a good quality black polo neck to go under dresses,
with some thick black or coloured opaque tights. Keep
your coat and add a thick belt and cap to give the military
look. Your boots will be able to go with most of these
looks.
The blouse has also replaced the shirt and the pussy
cat bow is great for the office and night worn with
a pencil skirt or trousers or for the weekend worn with
jeans. Remember it is about simply wearing your new
buys and swapping them around with your existing buys. |
