how to look good: fashion advice, high street and designer clothing, fashion directory, and body shape and clothing tips

September

This September we name our ‘Fave Five’ in tweed coats.

Time for Tweed.

So now you’ve perused our catwalk looks and the highstreet trends, you know Tweed is the big story. Of course you could be treating yourself to a tweed suit or even a tweed bomber jacket and culottes but there are other ways to wear it to harmonise with items you already have in your wardrobe.

A tweed coat will give the rest of your clothes a new look. Add a cord skirt and forties peep toes shoes even a corsage and you have a ‘fresh off the catwalk flavour’ with no effort at all. Or wear it with your jeans and boots and get a rustic country look just as easily.

So which coat do you go for to give you maximum impact, well profiled below, are our five favourite tweed looks which will see you through the cold and dark and out the other side to the daffodils.

From Dorothy Perkins comes our favourite coat at £70.00

in sizes up to 22 - they also offer tall and petite ranges. Sumptuous in pinks and plums, this is a perfect example of a coat that will work just as well with jeans as it will with a forties flavour - shown here. To ‘funk it up,’ further, try brown patterned tights and T-bar shoes in pink or lavender.

This lime green single-breasted coat with large revers will do all the work for you and is great for formal and laid back dressing. This coat is priced £120.00 and is available at selected Marks and Spencer stores.
