bridal - glamour

More and more ceremonies are taking place at evening venues and with the influence of red carpet dressing on bridal wear this next section shows a style of dress that has a glamorous edge.

This type of gown by Eddy K, is the red carpet style we’re talking about. Dramatically cut, it has a nocturnal glamour which looks sleek and sophisticated. It’s a great style for standard shaped women and creates a lengthening line through the body. www.eddyk.com

This style of gown could have come straight from the Oscar's and has the fifties trend so popular on the catwalk incorporated within it to give it a real va va vroom factor. The style by Justin Alexander and is perfect for curvy shapes as well as standard and tall women. www.justinalexanderbridal.com

This dress from Ritva Westenius is a fantastic shape for tall women. Why? Because the bow at the waist creates a focus at the centre of the body and the horizontal line across the bodice does so also. It’s a gorgeous gorgeous dress isn’t it? Remember, lines that go across the body create the feeling of width and this counteracts perfectly, the long vertical line that a tall body creates. See more designs at www.ritvawestenius.com

This dress from Caroline Castigliano has a ‘first lady,’ glamour and is perfect for petites who can create the illusion of height by elongating the look of their body. With all the detail at the top of the body as well as an empire line dress (seam just under the bust) legs will look longer too. www.carolinecastigliano.co.uk

how to look good
• Glamorous dresses do need a more sophisticated make-up and hairstyle to match. It's always crucial to have a practice run well before the big day especially if you are asking a hairdresser and make-up artist to assist you. If you are doing your make-up yourself, there are plenty of easy to follow ideas in our video but my best advice is have your hair dressed as early as possible to let your skin recover from the heat of the hair dryer or tongs.

• Don't forget to pay attention to you ears if you are putting you hair up. A small dab of foundation on lobes will make a big difference.

• Statement jewellery with an evening gala theme, will compliment this style of dress.

• Be aware that beaded gowns are heavy and potentially tiring. Wear your intended dress in the changing room for longer than usual to check how it feels before you commit.
